A fast-growing creative content agency is looking for a versatile Senior Motion Designer & Editor who can take work from raw footage or static design through to a beautifully finished, platform-ready film.
This is a genuinely hybrid role for someone who sits confidently between editing, motion and design.
Editing will be a major part of the opportunity.
You’ll work with long-form episodes, interviews, podcasts, campaign footage and original content, finding the strongest story and transforming it into sharp, engaging social cutdowns, trailers, reels, paid assets and standalone short-form films.
You’ll know how to build a compelling opening, shape performance, create pace and make every version feel purposeful—not simply shorter.
Alongside your editing craft, you’ll bring strong motion design skills.
Working with typography, transitions, composition, graphic systems and brand assets, you’ll develop motion treatments that elevate the edit and help bring the wider creative idea to life.
This is not a specialist 3D or VFX role.
It is also not a traditional long-form offline editing position.
They’re looking for someone who can confidently solve the whole creative job without it needing to pass between several different specialists.
The role
You’ll work closely with Creative Directors, Art Directors, Designers, Copywriters and Producers, contributing ideas as well as execution.
Your work will include
- Editing episodes, interviews, podcasts and campaign footage into engaging short-form content.
- Creating trailers, teasers, social cutdowns, reels, paid-media assets and platform-specific versions.
- Finding the story within raw footage and making confident decisions around structure, selects, performance, pacing, music and sound.
- Designing motion treatments that strengthen the creative idea rather than simply decorating the edit.
- Creating motion graphics using typography, transitions, layouts, graphic devices and brand assets.
- Combining live action, stills, graphics and motion to create polished social-first films.
- Taking projects from first assembly through to final delivery, including captions, audio balancing, light colour work, resizing, versioning and exports.
- Adapting work across multiple aspect ratios, durations, platforms, markets and audience needs.
- Creating reusable templates and systems that improve consistency and efficiency.
- Taking ownership of schedules, feedback, file management and final delivery.
- What they’re looking for
- Substantial professional experience across both video editing and motion design.
- A portfolio or showreel demonstrating a strong balance of editorial storytelling, motion craft and design.
- Advanced Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects skills, supported by strong knowledge of the wider Adobe Creative Suite.
- Proven experience turning long-form footage into compelling social cutdowns and short-form films.
- The ability to edit for story, hooks, pace, performance, emotion and platform behaviour.
- Strong motion design skills across typography, transitions, brand systems and graphic-led animation.
- Solid graphic design foundations, with an excellent eye for layout, composition, hierarchy and visual storytelling.
- The confidence to develop a motion treatment rather than relying on an Art Director to solve every visual decision.
- A strong understanding of contemporary social platforms, formats and viewing habits.
- Experience handling captions, music, sound effects, basic audio mixing, light colour work, versioning and final exports.
- The organisation and reliability to manage several fast-moving projects at once.
Experience with Cinema 4D, Blender or more advanced animation and VFX would be useful, but it is not essential.
About you
You’re a creative editor who understands design—and a motion designer who understands storytelling.
You can take a project from raw footage to final film without unnecessary handovers.
Your edits have clear structure, strong openings and confident pacing, while your motion work feels considered and integrated rather than added as an afterthought.
You work quickly without compromising craft, understand when a simple solution is the strongest one and take pride in the details that make a piece feel genuinely finished.
You’re proactive, collaborative and low-ego. You communicate clearly, respond well to direction and contribute thoughtful creative solutions of your own.
This is a meaningful, potentially long-term freelance opportunity with a varied mix of social content, campaign films, brand work and original formats.
For the right person, it could develop into a permanent role as the agency continues to grow.
Please include a portfolio or showreel demonstrating both your editing and motion design work.
