RC Fornax is seeking a Senior Test Equipment Engineer to join our leading defence customer. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to work at the forefront of radar system development within a dynamic and skilled engineering team. You will contribute to the design and delivery of hardware-based test equipment for Radar systems covering everything from design verification through to repair and final customer acceptance. The work spans the full engineering lifecycle and offers the chance to take ownership, solve integration challenges, and collaborate across software, firmware, and hardware disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop test hardware solutions across the full engineering lifecycle from requirements analysis to delivery.
- Create high-quality, fully documented design data packs.
- Support integration of hardware with software and firmware.
- Work closely with internal teams and suppliers to resolve technical challenges.
- Participate in peer reviews and engineering process improvements.
- Lead technical direction, mentor team members, and manage deliverables (subject to experience).
- Support the production of test equipment drawings and documentation.
- Provide estimates and support bids by advising on cost, compliance, and technical risk.
Skills Essential:
- Degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Strong experience in hardware development with a methodical and thorough approach.
- Ability to derive unit-level requirements from system-level documents.
- Comfortable working independently or collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Capable of working with suppliers on key components and assemblies.
Desirable:
- Experience across full product lifecycle and in multiple engineering domains.
- Background in RF/Microwave/Antenna, Digital or Analogue, Power Supplies, or High-Speed Digital Interfacing.
- Familiarity with interfaces such as RS422, 1553, I2C/SPI, Ethernet.
- Experience using DOORS or other requirements management tools.
- Prior exposure to customer/supplier interactions.
Working pattern: Hybrid 3 to 4 days on site per week
