This is a remote position. RC Fornax are looking for experienced Mechanical Engineers to support a range of exciting land and vehicle-based engineering programmes across the Midlands and Southwest regions. This is an excellent opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects within highly regulated engineering environments, supporting the full product lifecycle from concept through to manufacture and integration.
Location: Remote / Hybrid working available with travel across: Midlands, Southwest England
Role Overview: You will be supporting mechanical design and development activities on complex land systems and vehicle programmes. The role will involve CAD design, engineering documentation, configuration management, and collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mechanical design and development of components and assemblies for land/vehicle platforms
- Creation and modification of detailed 3D CAD models and engineering drawings
- Support prototype development, testing, and design reviews
- Work closely with manufacturing, systems, and project engineering teams
- Manage engineering data and configurations within PLM systems
- Produce technical documentation and support engineering change processes
- Ensure designs comply with customer and industry standards
Required Experience:
- Proven experience within mechanical engineering design environments
- Experience working on land systems, defence, automotive, or vehicle-based projects
- Strong CAD capability using one or more of: Creo, SolidWorks, NX
- Experience using Teamcenter or similar PLM/configuration management tools
- Understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, and manufacturing processes
- Ability to work within multidisciplinary engineering teams
Desirable Experience:
- Defence or highly regulated industry background
- Experience supporting full engineering lifecycle activities
- Knowledge of fabrication, machining, or vehicle integration activities
- Awareness of design for manufacture and assembly principles
Security Requirements: Candidates must be eligible to obtain UK security clearance. Existing SC clearance would be advantageous.
