Radiation Safety Manager

Location: Remote (with monthly visits to all UK facilities)

Special Focus: Surrey site (will be 2-3 days a week for the first 6 months)

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Radiation Safety Manager to oversee our client’s UK production sites. The successful applicant will have specialized knowledge in radiation safety, radioactive materials handling or nuclear safety. This role is primarily remote, with monthly visits to each facility and a special focus on the Surrey site for the first six months. You will have the flexibility to manage your own time while maintaining visibility across all sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Standardisation: Develop and implement new templates, processes, and systems to ensure a consistent way of working across all sites.
  • Documentation: Globalise documentation to streamline operations and ensure compliance.
  • Risk Assessments: Conduct thorough risk assessments and manage radiation protection.
  • Interpersonal Communication: Engage with site managers and Safety Officers to foster a cohesive safety culture across the UK business.
  • Project Work: Participate in various projects, including the set-up of new equipment and the opening of a new site.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Specialised experience in Radiation Safety. Any additional experience in wider H&S would be a strong advantage.
  • Qualifications: NEBOSH certification is essential.
  • Regulations: Familiarity with IRR17 standards, ADR for carrying dangerous goods, and environmental permitting regulations.
  • Nice to Have: Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) knowledge.
