Are you a hands-on Food Scientist with a passion for bringing innovative extract and concentrate products to life? We’re looking for a driven R&D Scientist to join our dynamic team and lead the journey from concept to commercialization—delivering high-quality, scalable solutions for the food and beverage industry.
In this role, you’ll work across lab, pilot plant, and production environments, collaborating with cross‑functional teams and engaging directly with customers. If you love the idea of creating new products that make an impact, this role offers both challenge and opportunity.
What You’ll Do:
- Product Development
- Develop new extract and concentrate products from concept through commercialization.
- Document formulations, ingredients, and processing methods clearly and accurately.
- Work hands-on at the bench and support production trials on-site.
- Conduct shelf-life stability studies, evaluating sensory and analytical changes.
- Project & Stakeholder Management
- Manage multiple projects effectively, ensuring timely and high‑quality delivery.
- Partner directly with Sales and customers as a subject matter expert in extract and concentrate technologies.
- Communicate complex technical information clearly to non‑technical audiences.
- Industry & External Collaboration
- Stay up to date on trends in food and beverage science.
- Participate in relevant workshops, conferences, and industry events.
- Work with external labs, suppliers, co‑packers, and consultants as needed.
- Travel occasionally to facilities, customer sites, and trade shows.
- Participate in sensory evaluations of coffee, tea, and botanical products.
- Quality & Safety
- Maintain safe, high-quality food products by following GMP, HACCP, allergen controls, food defence, and regulatory requirements.
- Report all food safety or quality issues promptly.
- Support a culture of knowledge sharing and cross-functional collaboration.
- Follow all site safety practices and report unsafe conditions.
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Science or a related field.
- 2+ years of industry experience in food, beverage, or related product development.
- Working knowledge of HACCP, GMP, regulatory standards, and labelling laws.
- Understanding of analytical parameters for specification development and shelf‑life analysis.
- Strong sensory abilities: taste, smell, and colour differentiation, with willingness to taste coffee, tea, caffeine, and dairy products.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Competence with Microsoft Word, Project, PDF, Genesis or similar tools.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Work across office, lab, and production plant settings.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Use of hearing protection in designated areas.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely.
- Comfortable working around food allergens.
- Flexibility to work extended hours when required.
