In 2025, The Met Hotel, Leeds is embarking on an exciting transformation, with plans to restore and rejuvenate the property from the ground up. An extensive renovation is underway to enhance the hotel’s offerings and elevate the guest experience to new levels. We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Sales Director to help reposition the hotel as Leeds’ most beloved lifestyle destination.
You will have a direct impact on driving the hotel’s success through the development and execution of strategic sales initiatives, focusing on building long-term business relationships and maximising revenue growth post-refurbishment. We are looking for a results-driven, self-starting leader with a deep understanding of the hotel industry and a passion for proactive sales.
Key Responsibilities:
- Key responsibility for the achievement of the commercial segments within the hotel strategy.
- Key account management to grow and maintain national agency and corporate relationships.
- To increase the share and profitability of existing accounts and secure new business across all market segments, both locally and nationally.
- ‘Hunter’ mentality with ability to think outside the box when it comes to sales and marketing.
- Become the hotel brand strategist and help to define and deliver the hotel's unique value proposition and positioning in the market.
- Manage and nurture relationships with existing and potential clients, overseeing rate negotiations and account management to ensure optimal market share.
- Lead with the hotel's sales and marketing messaging strategy ensuring that all hotel collateral, marketing materials and communication channels reflect the brand’s voice and resonate with the target audience.
- Ability to write, lead and execute full marketing strategy for the hotel and lead within market positioning.
- To lead, inspire and support the on-property teams with your own passion and enthusiasm.
Main Responsibilities:
- Act as the hotel’s brand guardian, ensuring all marketing materials reflect the new brand voice, and lead the execution of promotions and campaigns.
- Conduct reviews, analyse performance, and clearly communicate key Sales and Marketing reports to stakeholders and owners, adapting strategies as necessary.
- Partner with Revenue Management to develop and execute promotional strategies and manage OTA (Online Travel Agent) strategies through regular marketing reviews and media investments.
- Lead the development of the hotel’s overall marketing strategy, including planning and email strategies.
- Oversee the execution of all marketing initiatives, projects, and collateral production to ensure sales and marketing goals are achieved and revenue opportunities are maximized.
- Manage both internal and external partners to ensure deliverables are executed in alignment with the hotel’s strategy.
- Develop and implement the annual digital marketing plan and broader partnership and marketing strategies to drive revenue and support the hotel’s repositioning efforts.
- Collaborate with the MDS or agency to monitor SEO performance and make recommendations for necessary updates.
- Oversee the creation of up-to-date marketing assets (e.g., photoshoots) to ensure content is current across all channels and platforms.
- Manage a team of direct reports, overseeing the performance of the overall sales and marketing team, as well as individual performance.
- Work closely with the RBH central sales team to ensure visibility within agency, leisure and national markets.
- Attend major travel functions and exhibitions to promote the portfolio.
- Maintain extensive market and product knowledge and work with hotel on adapting products and services to match client requirements and business trends.
What We Need From You:
- Over 5 years of experience in sales within the hospitality sector, with a proven ability to meet and exceed sales targets.
- Exceptional leadership and team management abilities, with a talent for motivating and inspiring a diverse team.
- Strong proficiency in analysing market data and performance metrics to guide strategic decision-making.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly present ideas and strategies to stakeholders.
- Excellent negotiation abilities to secure contracts and partnerships that are advantageous for the hotel.
- A true commercial entrepreneur within sales, marketing and revenue hotel functions.
- Knowledge of digital marketing platforms and tools, including SEO, PPC, email marketing, and social media.
