A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SALES AND EVENTS EXECUTIVE AT DOUBLETREE BY HILTON EDINBURGH CITY
We are looking for a passionate, dynamic and results-focused individual to join and support us in continuing to build on the hotel’s success. You will report into the Director of Sales and work with a variety of different clients, industries, and segments. As the Sales & Events Executive, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
- Handle incoming and outgoing event enquiries for corporate events and social events.
- Assisting the Sales Manager & Director of Sales with administration such as proposals, event contracts, banquet event sheets, post event feedback enquiries, etc.
- Handle photocopying and distribution of all correspondence such as memos, banquet event orders to concerned departments.
- Maintain a proper filing and trace system for the department.
- Responsible for maintaining the general tidiness of the department.
- Liaise with other departments for information (e.g. liaise with operations for floor plans and equipment / liaise with the Chef for special menus, etc.).
- Maintain a good understanding of clients and their needs.
- Handle all incoming telephone enquiries and provide initial suggestions on sales enquiries.
- Handle guests’ requests independently by supplying information, contacting concerned departments to assist in guests’ requests and needs.
- Update the group chart and prepare relevant reports.
- Conduct site inspections if required.
- Assist in ad-hoc projects as assigned by the Sales Manager & Director of Sales.
- Always ensure that a hospitable service atmosphere is upheld in the hospitality business.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

- Strong planning skills, with the ability to look ahead and put strategies in place to support the plans.
- A degree of knowledge of all market segments i.e., corporate, conference.
- It is essential that you can work well under pressure, with minimal supervision and maintain high standards and attention to detail.
- Exceptional communication, organisational and negotiation skills with both internal and external stakeholders with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word & Excel).
- Is proactive, likes to be creative and has a passion for sales and hunting for new business.
- A positive attitude and superb work ethic.
- Previous sales experience would be desirable but not essential.
