An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Sales and Events Coordinator to join the team at Mercure and ibis Styles Paignton. Working across two modern seafront hotels, you will play a key role in bringing meetings, events, weddings and group stays to life, from the first enquiry through to the day itself. You will build strong relationships with local clients, coordinate every detail of their booking and act as the vital link between Sales and the hotel’s operational teams, ensuring each event is clearly communicated and delivered to a high standard.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SALES AND EVENTS COORDINATOR AT OUR HOTELS

  • Responding to enquiries for meetings, events, and group stays, creating tailored proposals that showcase everything our hotels have to offer.
  • Building relationships with local businesses, organisations and partners to generate new opportunities and encourage repeat bookings.
  • Coordinating every detail of confirmed bookings, including event timings, menus, rooming lists, dietary requirements and special requests.
  • Preparing clear and accurate function sheets and Banquet Event Orders so every department knows exactly what is required.
  • Working closely with the Sales and Operations teams to ensure important information and booking amendments are communicated promptly.
  • Attending planning and operational meetings, identifying potential challenges and helping teams prepare for upcoming events and groups.
  • Welcoming clients and groups on arrival, acting as a key point of contact and supporting the smooth delivery of their event.
  • Supporting local marketing activity, promotional campaigns, wedding fayres, showcases and networking events to raise the profile of both hotels.
  • Providing detailed handovers to the Duty Manager and relevant departments when you will not be on-site for an event.
  • Following up with clients after their event, gathering feedback and identifying opportunities for future business.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

  • Previous experience in groups, events, hotel sales or a similar coordination role.
  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple bookings, deadlines and changing requirements.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to work closely with clients, local businesses and hotel departments.
  • A proactive and commercially focused approach, with an interest in developing local accounts and generating repeat business.
  • A calm, solutions-focused attitude when handling last-minute changes or resolving potential issues.
  • Confidence preparing accurate event documentation and communicating detailed information clearly.
  • A visible, hands-on approach, with the flexibility to support occasional evening and weekend events.
  • A collaborative attitude and a genuine commitment to delivering memorable experiences for every client and guest.
