A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A LINEN PORTER AT THE MILNER YORK

  • Collect, distribute and replenish clean linen to housekeeping floors, service areas and departments as required
  • Remove soiled linen and transport it safely to designated laundry areas
  • Assist with the organisation and rotation of linen stock to ensure availability and quality
  • Ensure linen cupboards and storage areas are kept clean, tidy and well organised
  • Follow correct manual handling procedures when lifting and transporting linen
  • Adhere to health & safety, COSHH and infection control procedures at all times
  • Support the Housekeeping team during peak periods, including weekends and holidays
  • Report any maintenance issues or missing items promptly to keep rooms in top shape
  • Follow health, safety, and cleanliness standards, helping maintain a safe environment for guests and team members
  • Support with special requests, like setting up extra beds or delivering extra amenities, going the extra mile to make each stay memorable
  • Work closely with other departments, especially the front desk and maintenance, to deliver a seamless guest experience

  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with other team members and respond to guest needs
  • The ability to work efficiently, staying organised and focused during busy shifts
  • A team player who’s flexible and willing to help wherever needed to keep things running smoothly
