RBH Properties is seeking a dedicated and experienced Group Financial Controller to join our dynamic team. RBH operates a diverse portfolio of commercial and residential properties across the UK and Ireland, as well as a vibrant co-working business Avenue HQ, with offices in Leeds and Liverpool.
As our Group Financial Controller, you will play a crucial role in overseeing our financial strategy, ensuring accurate reporting, and driving our financial operations to support our growth in the real estate sector. We are looking for someone who can not only manage the financials but also contribute to our team culture, engaging collaboratively with colleagues across our companies to align our financial goals with our overall business objectives. Responsibilities
- Group reporting: Prepare consolidated monthly/quarterly management accounts with clear commentary and insights.
- Compliance & tax: Manage multi-entity statutory accounts, tax and company secretarial compliance, and relationships with external accountants.
- Budgeting & forecasting: Lead annual budgeting process; provide rolling forecasts and scenario analysis.
- Team management: Manage and develop two bookkeepers; build capability and cover within the team.
- Commercial partnering: Work closely with the senior team on pricing, renewals, and profitability by business unit; support on property investment decisions.
- Process improvement: Identify opportunities for automation, efficiency, and stronger financial controls.
- Cash & working capital: Monitor group cashflow, support banking relationships, optimise working capital.
Requirements
Essential:
- Proven experience as a financial controller or head of finance.
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with at least 5 years post-qualification experience, including at least 3 years in a Financial Controller or senior finance role.
- Strong technical accounting (UK GAAP, statutory and management accounts, multi-entity consolidation).
- Experience managing a small finance team.
- Excellent communication skills - able to translate financial information for non-finance stakeholders.
- Strong Excel/financial modelling skills.
- Proficient with Xero and related add-ons.
Desirable:
- Experience across both property and operational multi-site businesses (co-working, hospitality or leisure).
- Experience implementing process improvements and financial systems.
- Track record of working in lean, entrepreneurial environments.
- Understanding of commercial property financing and banking relationships.
