What is the opportunity?
To support the deal team in the origination and execution of Leveraged Finance transactions.
What will you do?
- Work as part of a team on the execution of leveraged finance transactions.
- Assist in the preparation of pitch books and formal client presentations, participating in the pitches and presentations.
- Production and review of relevant sections of internal credit papers (e.g., syndication strategy slides) under the supervision of senior colleagues.
- Assist deal team in the completion of all administrative and control functions connected with the transaction and credit approval process.
- Perform and review leverage analysis of leveraged buyout comparable companies/transactions.
- Help identify and structure appropriate debt solutions and pricing guidance for financial sponsor client base.
- Review weekly market commentary and comparables produced by junior colleagues.
- Present market update in internal and external forums.
- Perform market soundings.
- Assist in the active monitoring of repricing/refinancing opportunities with leveraged finance coverage team.
- Ongoing coverage of buyside investors.
- Supervision of market comps databases, sector comps and indices.
- Regular interaction with RBC’s HY and leverage loan salesforce (briefing on primary market, briefing on RBC mandated deals).
- Interact and build effective relationships with opposite numbers in the financial sponsor’s deal team.
- Liaison with US capital markets on transatlantic deals.
- Production and presentation of kick-off materials of lead left deals together with leveraged finance team.
- Manage and assist the execution process for leveraged loan or high yield transactions.
- Cover investors together with salesforce for lead left transactions.
- Deliver syndication workstream update on calls with clients.
- Manage and prepare proposed allocations and allocation emails for investors.
- Direct, supervise and train Analysts/Associates in all aspects of their role.
- Proactively identify operational risks/control deficiencies in the business.
What do you need to succeed?
Must have
- Degree educated or equivalent.
- In-depth knowledge of investment banking services and the ability to apply them creatively to diverse client needs.
- Ability to acquire in-depth resources skills.
- Self-starter with ability to take senior client responsibility.
- Sound judgement with strong analytical skills.
- Interpersonal skills.
- Advanced computer skills: Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
Nice to have
- Relevant finance background, typically developed either in banking or accountancy.
- Professional qualification such as MBA, CFA, ACA or LPC.
