We have an exciting opportunity to join our newly formed Privacy Risk team in Wealth Management – Europe (WME), within Data Governance and support the successful delivery of WME Privacy Risk’s programme of work. You will be responsible for managing team members within Privacy Risk and providing guidance, development, coaching, driving performance management and supporting career development. The programme of work promotes, enhances, and maintains good first line of defence (1LOD) responsibility for Privacy risk as defined in the RBC Risk taxonomy. You will support and advise the 1L, embedding ‘Privacy by Design’ into key change initiatives and ensuring that WME adheres to the global privacy framework and control standards within RBC. You will manage the maintenance of the WME Record of Processing, support the business to complete Privacy Risk Assessments and support initiatives that enhance privacy risk management across the business.
RBC’s expectation is that from mid‑September, all employees and contractors will work in the office with some flexibility to work up to one day per week remotely, depending on working arrangements.
What will you do?
- Work with key business stakeholders and change teams across the WME business to embed ‘Privacy by Design’.
- Provide guidance and support across the WME business to support key initiatives, ensuring Personal Data is managed in accordance with the GDPR and aligned to the global privacy framework.
- Provide key stakeholders within sales and marketing functions with guidance and support around consent management as the business matures.
- Work with WME business to complete Privacy Risk Assessments.
- Support the launch, roll‑out and education of Privacy Champions across WME.
- Work with WME business to complete Legitimate Interests Assessments (LIA) and create and maintain a library of LIAs.
- Assist with logging and the assessment of breaches and incidents within WME.
- Help the WME business understand the privacy implications of their processes, embedding Privacy by Design.
What do you need to succeed?
Must‑have:
- A good understanding of GDPR.
- Awareness / understanding of the Privacy Program framework.
- Strong experience within the financial services industry and good business acumen.
- Proficiency in participating in projects with multiple stakeholders.
- An adept understanding of stakeholder management / facilitation of meetings.
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills and the ability to present or communicate complex concepts in a concise and understandable way to various stakeholders.
