What is the opportunity?

You will join the Balance Sheet and Liquidity Risk (BSLR) team in London, within the Group Risk Management (GRM) function of the Royal Bank of Canada.

As an Associate Director you will provide second line oversight of RBC’s liquidity, FTP and interest rate risk in the UK and EMEA, working closely with Corporate Treasury London and Treasury Services London to review and challenge processes and proposals.

You will collaborate with GRM, Treasury, Finance, Enterprise Risk and other groups and present findings to local and global governance bodies.

What will you do?

  • Provide independent regional oversight for Liquidity and Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book in UK and Europe, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Review methodologies, models, parameters and assumptions for liquidity and interest rate risk measurement, including stress testing.
  • Leverage Corporate Treasury reporting processes to provide effective review and challenge prior to approval.
  • Work within local and enterprise governance structures and drive improvements.
  • Prepare presentations and communications summarising GRM concerns and approval conditions for committees at local and global levels.
  • Stay up to date on new regulations and articulate concerns to challenge decisions.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders for effective collaboration.
  • Maintain an organized document library of BLSR Europe frameworks, policies, assumptions and regulatory guidance.
  • Schedule and coordinate committee dates, regulatory discussions, policy refreshes, audit action plans and other events.

  • Risk management experience in a financial institution or comparable environment, including enterprise risk management exposure.
  • Strong academic background.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
  • Understanding of RBC’s business in UK and Europe.
  • Knowledge of liquidity and funding risk.
  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge of financial models.
  • Understanding of the regulatory environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure against tight deadlines.
  • Independent management of a significant and diverse workload.
  • Accountability, leadership and initiative.
  • Nice‑to‑have
  • Master’s degree in Business/Finance.
  • Experience in legal entity risk.
  • Understanding of global financial markets and trading products.
  • Understanding of stress test methodologies and valuation models for trading products.
