We are seeking an Analyst to join our Corporate Banking team in London. Corporate Banking plays a key role in the realisation of Royal Bank of Canada Capital Markets' (RBCCM) objectives through the structuring and delivery of bank debt, as well as managing the overall client relationship and coordinating broad cross-sell towards our targeted customer base. This role is intended to support the build-out of the Corporate Banking activities across RBC's corporate client base generally.

RBC's expectation is that all employees and contractors will work in the office with some flexibility to work up to 1 day per week remotely, depending on working arrangements.

What will you do?

  • Support relationship managers in maintaining and building upon RBCCM's position in the marketplace, with the goal of being one of our client's first calls for advice and financial assistance.
  • Assist our internal partners on the optimal utilisation of lending in connection with RBCCM's relationship goals and assist in the production of marketing/pitching materials for bank debt and other products.
  • Prepare client business plans, monitoring performance thereof in terms of Client Profitability, Economic Capital returns and absolute revenue targets.
  • Preparation, submission, & presentation of Credit Memos to Risk Management and Commitments Committee.
  • Support the relationship manager as the key point in respect of negotiation, preparation, review & execution of associated credit documentation, as appropriate. Requires liaison with the client, Agent and external/internal legal counsel.
  • Support the relationship manager to introduce and integrate new clients into RBCCM, seeking to identify those clients that offer multiple product selling opportunities or which have potential for large single/lumpy revenue generating transactions.
  • Develop relationships with key internal partners including FX, Derivatives, Debt and Equity Capital Markets, Leveraged Finance and M&A teams.
  • Monitor infrastructure and leveraged finance assets to which RBC has provided financing.
  • Involvement with Investment Grade and Leveraged borrowers.
  • Review and comply with Firm Policies applicable to your business activities.
  • Escalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies and risks that you identify to your line manager and the relevant risk and control functions promptly.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Must Have
  • Strong presentation & client skills.
  • Experience in client coverage / relationship management of demanding multinational corporates would be desirable.
  • Strong analytical, technical, written and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of RBC Capital Markets product base and the application thereof.
  • Knowledge of structured financing and the application thereof.
  • Ability to prioritise work, manage multiple tasks, including working for multiple people.
  • Ability to work independently with limited oversight on agreed tasks.
  • Prior experience in a Leveraged Finance and/or Infrastructure Finance environment will be highly valued.
  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience, preferably in a numerical discipline.
  • Nice to Have
  • Post Graduate degree / CFA desirable.
  • Additional European language skills.
