What is the opportunity?
RBC is currently searching for a highly technical interest rate derivative specialist to join their Valuations Methodology Team in London.
The role is created by an internal move and would suit a quantitative-focused candidate looking for a technical challenge.
Valuations Methodology is part of the Product Control Team.
The incumbent will assume responsibility as “Valuations Change Management Lead & Structured Rates Product Head”. It is expected that the role will require 60-70% focus on our Project VAMPP (Valuations & Methodology Python Project) with the remainder devoted to SRT Product Head responsibilities.
Project VAMPP is a multiyear initiative aiming to upgrade Valuations infrastructure. Initial focus is on replacing Excel based workflows into Python to drive ROI.
In future, we are aiming to add data analytics within our processes and explore the use of latest technology including GenAI.
You will be working closely with senior members of the Methodology team, Quantitative and Technology Services (QTS) and the business to create high-quality technology solutions to support business growth and innovation.
You will plan and prioritise the deliverables ensuring controlled deployment of Python code stack within tactical and strategic environments.
As the SRT Product Head, you will be responsible for IPV (Independent Price Verification) and other valuation adjustments.
RBC’s expectation is that from mid-September 2025, all employees and contractors will work in the office with some flexibility to work up to 1 day per week remotely, depending on working arrangements.

Drive Operational Excellence by automating the workflows with End-to-End solution

Lead Project VAMPP, globally, supporting valuation analytics and architecture

You will be a hands on programmer. Along with other contributors, you will develop prototypes in Python, which eventually will be included into official production code stack.

Responsible for planning and prioritising our deliverables.

Oversee creation of a controlled workflow, including code documentation and methodologies across all business areas, with initial focus on SRT.

Carry out the code review and develop overall understanding of code stack.

Coordinate the overall project structure and project management using JIRA.

Oversee and feedback on development of Valuations Methodologies by other senior members.

Build on your understanding of pricing models for Rates, Equities, XVAs and FX.

Manage a team of three experienced Associate Directors.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
-
Experience and solid understanding of derivative modelling mainly in Rates with some exposure in other areas, i.e. Equities, FX or Commodities.

Programming experience with proficiency in Python.

Experience in using project management tools like JIRA.

Code change management experience using GitHub.

Strong focus on delivering working software to production.

Excellent attention to detail and strong code review skills.

Experience in mentoring / developing senior members of the team and assist them with their career progression.

Excellent academic credentials with a Masters or PhD in a quantitative field such as Quantitative Finance, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering.

Extensive experience in Valuations, Risk, Trading or Quants world.
