What is the opportunity? You will provide day-to-day management of RBC’s global high-risk Capital Markets portfolio, focusing on minimising losses while maximising strategic client retention.

As a member of a specialised team, you’ll handle complex, high-risk accounts through proactive relationship and risk management. Your role balances delivering tailored solutions that meet RBC’s risk standards with preserving long‑term client relationships. Collaboration with internal partners (e.g., service teams, risk officers) and external professionals will be critical to resolving challenges and driving business opportunities.

What will you do?

  • Client Experience
    • Champion continuous improvement in client interactions, taking ownership of issues at first contact.
    • Ensure clients are treated with respect, empathy, and professionalism while maintaining strong relationships.
    • Proactively refer clients to RBC‑wide expertise to enhance their experience.
    • Deliver value‑added financial advice and solutions tailored to meeting the objective of minimising loss and maintaining client relationships where possible.
  • Employee Capability & Engagement
    • Maintain up‑to‑date skills/accreditations via a personal development plan.
    • Participate in bank/industry events and foster a culture of recognition for client‑focused behaviours.
  • Client Retention
    • Leverage tools like Newton, MFA, and SLAS Learnings to strengthen advisory interactions.
    • Build partnerships with Risk and Field teams to identify high‑risk situations early.
    • Maintain a visible, positive presence (in‑person/virtual) to promote Advisory Services.
  • Risk Management
    • Negotiate terms and agreements to protect RBC’s short‑ and long‑term financial interests.
    • Address collateral/data issues, lending excesses, and compliance requirements (e.g., AML, fraud prevention).
    • Manage portfolio health via timely reviews, borrower performance monitoring, and write‑off processing.
    • Follow protocols for risk rating changes, covenant breaches, and negative financial trends.
    • Participate in Watchlist reviews and share restructuring insights via SLAS database updates.
    • Prepare for portfolio reviews with senior leadership (VP/EVP) and engage external experts (lawyers, appraisers) as needed.
    • Mitigate reputation risk through professional, consultative issue resolution.
    • Establish file strategies within 45 days of transfer to your team.
