What is the opportunity? Associate Director, Senior Algo Developer will help build out our automated electronic trading and algo technology across Rates and FX. The incumbent will provide technical and architectural leadership while personally building out large parts of the next‑generation platform across Rates and FX.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and architecture for the strategic Rates and FX platform.
  • Personally develop key features across Rates and FX algos.
  • Ensure cross‑asset solutions for various Macro trading businesses by designing and implementing changes, and leading delivery within the team.
  • Liaise with key business stakeholders to ensure electronic trading solutions meet specifications.
  • Perform complex application programming activities including coding, testing, debugging, documenting, maintaining, and modifying automated trading applications.

Requirements

Must Have:

  • 100% hands‑on development experience in building algo trading features and overall systems.
  • Expertise with design and architecture around electronic trading platforms.
  • Experience with the entire SDLC for highly concurrent low‑latency trading systems.
  • 10+ years of Java development experience.
  • Expertise with Rates or FX trading systems.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience building out eMacro e‑books and automated trading strategies.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is $135,000 – $225,000, depending on experience, skills, registration status, market conditions and business needs. You have the potential to earn more through RBC’s discretionary variable compensation program, which gives you an opportunity to increase your total compensation if business meets its performance targets and you meet your individual goals.
