The Market Risk London team monitors, analyses, and reports on market risk exposure stemming from the European trading activity within RBC Capital Markets, RBC Investor Services and RBC Wealth Management in Europe.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, analyze and report market risk exposures for the desk, including risk limits, material exposures and concentrations.
  • Timely investigate and elevate key risks, exposure changes or breaches.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the products and the associated risks, and drivers contributing to P&L and loss metrics (VaR and Stress).
  • Prepare risk analysis on emerging risks, limit extensions, annual limit reviews, product mandates or ad‑hoc trading requests, and provide constructive challenge to the Business.
  • Follow market developments to provide insights on emerging concerns or potential or realised impacts.
  • Assess new business initiatives or requests, ensuring the risks are understood and highlighted appropriately.
  • Collaborate with the Business, Technology, Enterprise Risk and other functions on new initiatives, projects or risk issues.
  • Act as key contact for Market Risk on risk reporting, risk processes and risk management for the assigned desks.
  • Drive medium and long‑term projects, including AI initiatives, and actively look for opportunities to improve the existing risk management infrastructure.
  • Manage ad‑hoc projects and collaborate with other stakeholders, with support from the Director of Market Risk where required.

Must‑have Qualifications

  • Quantitative, Finance and/or Economics degree or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in a trading‑desk facing role.
  • Significant attention to detail in a fast‑paced and high‑pressure environment.
  • Curiosity and high self‑motivation with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Good team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills; interaction with other regions and teams is required.
  • Strong proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Bloomberg, and practical use of Python and SQL.
  • Strong English skills, both oral and written.
  • Upholds the reputation of RBC and Group Risk Management at all times.

Nice‑to‑have Qualifications

  • Good understanding of Greeks, VaR, stress testing and scenario analysis.
  • Practical experience with Tableau.
