The Associate Director, UK, Europe and APAC Business Continuity Risk will support key elements of the 2LOD BCRM Program to develop and execute a robust Objective Assessment Program, ensuring policy and standard requirements are adhered to across UK, Europe and APAC. This is a permanent, full‑time role that requires 4 days in our 100 Bishopsgate, London office.

What will you do?

  • Support the BCRM strategy, culture and activities that enable the team to operate as an integrated organisation.
  • Provide a strong culture of risk and integrity through effective challenge and deep partnership with first line to promote transparency of risks and matters requiring escalation.
  • Provide recommendations on policies, processes and tools for business continuity risk management.
  • Drive the development and execution of objective assessment activities with the strategic imperative of alignment to operational resilience, and give effective challenge and recommendations for continuous improvement to mitigate business continuity risk, including oversight of 1LOD issue remediation.
  • Participate in forums, working groups, and committees and monitor the internal and external environment to stay abreast of regulatory, strategic and operational changes affecting business continuity management practices.
  • Investigate large loss events/incidents related to BCRM/business disruption to assess potential systemic weaknesses and ensure appropriate corrective action.
  • Partner with 1st line of defense on the execution and effectiveness of BCRM program (independent reviews, deep‑dive reviews, risk assessments and scenario analysis) to gain assurance on current and emerging issues.
  • Review and assess output from BCRM monitoring programme to support an accurate view of the Business Continuity Risk Profile.
  • Lead external event analysis for BCRM to provide an outside‑in perspective and trigger additional reviews as necessary.
  • Support Director, UK, Europe and APAC Business Continuity Risk in independent, thematic reviews and emerging risk assessments to raise awareness of risk exposures.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Extensive Business Continuity Management experience, with knowledge, skills and background in Operational Risk, Compliance and/or Audit ideally within banking and/or financial services.
  • Sound knowledge and experience with operational risk programmes, risk assessment, internal controls, monitoring and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of the business continuity risk governance framework and practices; knowledge of UK, Europe and APAC business continuity regulations.
  • Risk mindset, data analysis capability and analytical thinking, strong organisation and collaboration skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Ability to drive change to business practices, self‑starter, capable of multitasking and prioritising in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Accommodation of occasional meetings within APAC hours (7am–9am GMT) 1–2 times per month.

  • Completion of Associate Business Continuity Professional certification (ABCP) or other business continuity industry‑recognised certification.
