What is the opportunity?
As an Asset Management Associate with Real Estate Capital Partners (“RECP”), you will work as part of a sub-team monitoring and managing loan positions from transaction closing through to loan maturity, supporting on-boarding, quarterly reporting cycles and coordinating with loan servicers, our borrowers and key internal stakeholder teams such as credit and risk management.
You will maintain loan documentation and data systems, attend portfolio meetings, and assist senior management with the preparation of performance analysis and market insights.
You will also support the team's use of the Oxane asset management platform and help ensure data accuracy across internal reporting functions.
What will you do?
- Actively monitor and manage European loan positions within RECP's loan book from transaction closing onwards, working alongside RBC’s Credit and Transaction Management (“CTM”) and Ratings and Monitoring (“R&M”) teams to ensure the timely completion of loan asset management tasks.
- Oversee the implementation and ongoing maintenance of CTM's and R&M's RECP European mandate, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements.
- On-board new loans to the RECP asset management platform upon transaction completion, including interfacing with loan servicers and origination teams to confirm payment instructions, communication preferences, and ensure proper documentation and tracking.
- Lead post-closing agreement on quarterly property reporting and compliance certificates, and oversee completion of all loan level condition subsequents alongside the relevant loan servicer.
- Establish draw tracker templates for future funding, manage the first post-closing funding for applicable loans, and ensure a timely handover of each loan to the CTM team.
- Supervise the CTM Team's review of quarterly borrower reporting packages and report on loan performance to RECP Europe's senior team via monthly loan portfolio meetings and ad hoc communications.
- Maintain the accuracy of asset management systems by updating the asset management tape, portfolio drawdown tracker, and deal database to reflect loan events, performance metrics, balance changes, and valuation updates.
- Organize and attend recurring and ad hoc asset management meetings including weekly RECP team meetings, weekly GRM calls, quarterly servicing firm meetings, and monthly portfolio review calls.
- Undertake key loan events such as future fundings, prepayments, valuations, and amendments, leading documentation and approval processes while liaising with RECP’s structuring team, external legal counsel, and other relevant third party consultants such as project monitors and draw monitors.
- Support platform utilization and RECP team education for the Oxane asset management platform, including overseeing quarterly reporting uploads, verifying data consistency, and training the RECP and internal risk management teams on platform features.
- Must-have
- University degree (BA/MA etc.) in real estate finance, economics and/or an associated field.
- Solid experience in the commercial real estate sector – preferably in a similar loan portfolio management roles (either on the equity side, or on the debt side).
- Robust verbal and written presentation skills (including a high level of Power Point and Excel efficiency).
