Job Summary:

RBPC is a multi-disciplined engineering consultancy offering design and construction management services, experienced working in a variety of sectors including Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Oil & Gas, Aggregates, Energy, Glass & Metals, Paper and Food & Drink.
Role:
The Mechanical Design Draughtsman will play a pivotal role in our engineering design team, responsible for producing high-quality mechanical drawings, piping isometrics, equipment layouts, and P&IDs across a diverse range of industries, including oil and gas, paper, food and drink, energy, chemical, and pharmaceutical. The successful candidate will be proficient in using CAD packages, primarily Autodesk Plant 3D, Inventor, and Revit, and will have a strong understanding of engineering design principles and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce detailed mechanical drawings, including piping isometrics, equipment layouts and fabrication drawings, and P&IDs based on engineering design specifications.
- Utilise CAD packages, primarily Autodesk Plant 3D, Inventor, and Revit, to create accurate and comprehensive 3D models and 2D drawings.
- Develop pipe routing and support designs, access platforms, and bespoke equipment as per engineer's specifications.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards and best practices for mechanical design and drafting.
- Collaborate effectively with engineers, project managers, and other team members to deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, technologies, and software applications.
Requirements:
- Educated to ONC/HNC Level or possess technical diploma or degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design draughting.
- Proficiency in CAD packages, particularly Autodesk Plant 3D, Inventor, and Revit.
- Be familiar with using Autodesk Recap and utilising point clouds in CAD packages.
- Strong understanding of engineering design principles and industry standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in MS Office suite.
- Full UK Driving License.
- Be available for days in the office. Must be prepared to travel including overseas/overnight as required.
- Must have experience of built environments specifically including industrial sites.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with Spec Editor for Autodesk Plant 3D, in updating piping catalogues and specifications.
- Familiarity with the latest piping standards.
- Knowledge of other CAD packages or software tools.
- Would be willing to tackle electrical drawings if required.
