We are looking for an experienced Transport Subcontractor Planning Team Leader to join our operations team on a 6-month contract. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on transport planning professional with leadership experience who thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment.

As the Transport Subcontractor Planning Team Leader, you will lead and support a team of Transport Subcontractor Planners while remaining actively involved in daily planning activities. You will play a key role in ensuring subcontractor workloads are organised efficiently to maximise vehicle payloads, optimise routes, and deliver cost-effective, sustainable transport solutions.

Key responsibilities:

  • Organise Subcontractor run schedules for collection and/or delivery of vehicles, ensuring cost effectiveness with full capacity and compatible geographic locations.
  • Organise the run schedules for each driver in consideration of EU driving regulations in respect of breaks, driving limits and rest periods.
  • Organise the run schedule to incorporate returns, deliveries, and site transfers.
  • Manage failed collection reports and continuously identify improvements.
  • Ensure we meet contractual service obligations.
  • Actively manage the inbox.
  • Manage the team of Subcontractor planners.
  • Complete all tasks deemed to be a reasonable request by any colleague in a timely, efficient, and safe manner.
  • Cover the Transport Planning Team Leader roles during their absence (annual leave, sickness etc).

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Transport planning.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar Transport planning Leadership Role.
  • Experience of working in a busy and pressured office environment.
  • Excellent IT Skills.
  • Ability to delegate tasks.

Knowledge:

  • Excellent knowledge of UK road network.
  • Excellent geographical knowledge.
  • Knowledge of the vehicle salvage Industry / Apex Recovery system knowledge would be advantageous.

Qualifications/Certificates/Education:

  • IOSH qualification.
  • Math's and English GCSE or equivalent.

  • Ability to work under your own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Positive ‘Can Do’ Attitude.
  • Good organisational skills.
