Overview
As a Cyber Engineer in Raytheon UK’s Digital Technologies function, you design, implement, and improve security capabilities across the enterprise. You’ll work closely with SOC, network, infrastructure, and cloud teams to strengthen monitoring, vulnerability management, and threat protection. You influence cyber strategy while delivering practical engineering solutions that support critical systems in a regulated environment. This role offers cross-team impact and opportunities to grow in national security-focused technology.
Responsibilities
- Administer and enhance security technologies across the enterprise (SIEM, DLP, vulnerability management, endpoint, email, and web security)
- Support Security Operations, Incident Response, and Vulnerability Management to optimise tooling configurations
- Design and maintain security controls aligned with business, regulatory, and operational needs
- Collaborate with Network, Infrastructure, Cloud, and Data Centre teams to ensure secure deployments
- Develop and improve security monitoring, detection, and response capabilities
- Maintain uptime, performance, and security of cyber security platforms
- Plan and execute technology upgrades, patches, and configuration changes
- Record faults, coordinate vendor support and MACD activities under change control
- Maintain accurate CMDB records and generate reports on security posture and risks
- Support cyber security projects and engage with external vendors and partners
- Act as a technical SME, guiding cyber teams and stakeholders
Key requirements
- Experience implementing and maintaining enterprise cyber security technologies
- Automation or scripting skills (PowerShell, Python, or similar)
- Experience in regulated environments (MOD/Defence/government)
- Experience supporting security monitoring, detection, and response
- Understanding of threat intelligence and its application to controls and detection
- Knowledge of secure system design compliant with HMG requirements
- Strong troubleshooting across infrastructure, security, and networking
- Ability to manage workload and priorities
- Experience administering SIEM, vulnerability management, endpoint security, and data protection technologies
- Experience onboarding and troubleshooting log sources and telemetry
- Eligibility to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC)
- Strong TCP/IP networking knowledge and experience with major vendors (Microsoft, Cisco, Juniper)
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Knowledge of cyber security frameworks (NIST 800-53/800-171, ISO 27001, CIS, NCSC)
