Role & Responsibilities
As a highly valued contracts and commercial officer you are expected to be a business enabler, supporting both the winning and subsequent delivery of a profitable business. Making our company one that our customers see as easy to contract with and work with through the delivery of their programmes. You will provide contractual and commercial governance and advice to the bid and project teams as the subject matter expert in your contracting area, support multiple contracts and provide flexibility as the business requires. This hybrid role supports our operations in Glenrothes, Harlow and Livingston. Team members typically attend their home site at least three times per week.
Main Duties
- Provide contractual and commercial support to the development of bids and proposals in response to quotations, invitation to negotiate, etc.
- Support in the negotiation of new and existing contracts, via:
- Facilitating NDAs
- Support in the review of Contract Terms (i.e. DEFCONs, FARS, DFARS, etc)
- Support client negotiations
- Administrative support to all assigned programmes
- Assist in the identification of commercial risk and report to functional partners.
- Support in the resolution of all commercial issues promptly and effectively
- Support in the management of the financial aspects of the contract, booking in our system of record, invoice production and submission, and ensuring Global trade (ITAR) compliance.
- Develop innovative process methods and provide insight into supporting business decision making.
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience.
- Ability in reviewing and drafting contractual documents
- Able to exemplify commercial awareness and business practices
- Awareness of commercial risk management
- An ability to respond to tasks with tenacity and flexibility, whilst working cross functionally in a multi-disciplinary team
- Strong communicator and relationship builder with both internal and external stakeholders
- Positive, self-motivated and the ability to work independently.
- A willingness and ability to travel occasionally.
Desirable:
- Eligible to obtain security clearance (SC) beyond baseline personnel security standard (BPSS)
- Basic programme management skill set - Risk Management/Programme Gating/ Metrics
- Demonstrable record of problem solving and dispute resolution
- Experience of working with international suppliers or customers
- Experience of Financial Management
- Awareness of Data Protection and other relevant commercial and contract legislation
- Familiarity with business process management tools (SAP or similar) and the competitive bidding process
