Overview
As Engineering Manager for Power & Test Equipment, you lead a multi-disciplinary team responsible for developing, delivering, and sustaining power, CAS and test solutions. You’ll partner with Project Management, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality and Commercial teams to drive technical excellence and on-time delivery. You’ll report to senior leadership, shaping capability needs and programme status while building strong stakeholder relationships. This role offers scope to influence engineering culture and strategy within a global defence-focused organisation.

Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire engineers across Power and Test Equipment product lines, creating a values-driven, inclusive culture
- Provide clear direction on safety, quality, delivery and business objectives
- Serve as escalation point for technical and programme challenges and drive timely resolutions
- Represent Engineering in Senior Leadership Team reviews with concise programme health reporting
- Lead recruitment, performance management and career development within the engineering team
- Mentor engineers and develop clear pathways for professional growth
- Drive continuous improvement of processes, tools and ways of working
- Support transition of products into manufacturing and lifecycle engineering support
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality and Service to optimise performance and customer satisfaction
- Contribute to engineering strategy, roadmaps and long-term capability planning
- Manage budgets, resource allocation, and investment priorities to maximise value
Key requirements
- Proven experience leading engineering teams delivering complex power, test or mission-critical products
- Track record of building high-performing teams and a values-aligned culture
- Experience leading in a matrix organisation with cross-functional influence
- Strong systems engineering principles, product development lifecycles and design assurance
- Broad technical knowledge across Systems, Electronics, Software, Mechanical, Reliability and Manufacturing
- Experience managing resources across multiple concurrent projects
- Strong leadership, communication and presentation skills to engage at SLT/executive levels
- Proven coaching and development of engineers and future leaders
- Financial awareness with budgeting, forecasting and investment decision experience
