Raytheon UK is seeking a Legal Counsel with a strong background in commercial contracts, defence procurement, and corporate governance.
Skills and Experience:
- UK qualified solicitor with some post qualification experience (gained either in-house or in private practice).
- Demonstrated relevant legal experience in commercial contracts and company secretarial matters.
- Be a member of the Law Society/The Legal Services Board/the Bar Council.
- Demonstrated ability to identify risks associated with commercial transactions while thinking and working proactively, strategically, and creatively.
- Excellent writing, drafting, interpretation, and negotiating skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including for internal reports and executive level briefings.
- Ability to interact effectively, collegially, and collaboratively in a team environment with multiple levels of the organisation.
- Ability to learn quickly and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Well-organised, with strong project management skills and the ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload.
Responsibilities:
- Support Raytheon UK’s core business areas by providing strategic and tactical legal advice across a wide spectrum of commercial contract and defence procurement issues.
- Work closely with other Raytheon UK Legal, Ethics & Compliance, Raytheon (US) LCC, and RTX corporate LCC colleagues.
- Provide legal advice and strategic guidance on drafting, negotiation, and amendment of high value, high risk, and bespoke contracts.
- Occasionally deal with contractual legal claims and disputes.
- Contribute strategic advice and assistance to bid activities.
- Partner directly with commercial and subcontracts colleagues to support and advise them on agreements.
- Work with the Heads of Legal within Raytheon UK to identify contractual legal issues early.
- Liaise with Raytheon (US) LCC and RTX corporate team members to ensure adherence to corporate policies.
- Support the development and maintenance of processes and procedures utilised by the Raytheon UK Legal, Ethics & Compliance team.
