Job Overview
OMNIA® Training, part of Raytheon UK, invites a Training Designer to transform British Army training.
In a hybrid, matrix‑based organization, the role reports operationally to OMNIA Training Design Branch and functionally to the Raytheon UK Engineering Management team, ultimately supporting the British Army.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver collective training event design as part of a small team.
- Serve as accountable owner for all assigned training events and their transformation.
- Produce Collective Training Exercise Plans and Assessment Solutions.
- Ensure training design processes are DSAT‑compliant, meet media enhancement, quality, and resourcing standards, and address challenges proactively.
- Collaborate with Army stakeholders to align design with the operational environment, threat pacing, and current British Army doctrine.
- Update training design materials incorporating internal and external assurance feedback to keep training up‑to‑date.
- Maintain governance, risk management, and compliance throughout the transformation lifecycle.
- Contribute to a cross‑functional team fostering innovation, agility, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and report on progress, risks, and outcomes to Training Design leadership.
- Deputise for the Training Design Lead when required.
- Perform other duties to develop and support the Training Design Service.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Proven experience designing collective training exercises for the British Army across Live, Virtual, and Constructive environments.
- Knowledge of British Army training design from sub‑unit to corps level.
- Strong background in JSP 822 and the DSAT process.
- Deep understanding of management methodologies and best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders and influence at all levels of an organization.
- Experience in programme governance, risk management, and benefits realization.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and critical‑thinking skills.
- Attention to detail, passion for quality, and capacity to plan and multitask.
- Adaptable approach to evolving priorities.
- Experience working in or with public sector or defence‑related programmes.
- A team player capable of integrating across Army and industry partners.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience with training and capability development programmes.
- Familiarity with data‑driven decision‑making and digital transformation tools.
- Knowledge of UK Ministry of Defence procedures and policies.
- Experience managing vendor relationships and third‑party delivery partners.
