Key Responsibilities:

  • Working with a multi-disciplined team to define work packages and technical requirements across multiple complex services and capabilities to meet required technical and operational specifications.
  • Defining requirements and producing designs.
  • Carrying out agreed operational procedures of a routine nature, logging, delegating and quality assuring.
  • Act as the technical liaison between engineering teams and supply chain partners, ensuring technical specifications, standards, and integration requirements are clearly communicated and understood.
  • Maintains relevant records and documentation, leads audits.
  • Individually contribute to the execution and delivery of key work packages.
  • Undertake, leading where required activities associated with Systems Engineering, including product development and qualification.
  • Work with the OMNIA Training team to assist in the review, analysis, implementation and delivery of advanced training environments and concepts.
  • Contributes to maintenance, installation and problem resolution.
  • Contributes to and helps improve system operation.
  • Be ‘Responsible for championing and fostering a culture of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance and continuous improvement’.
  • Any other duties required to meet the needs of the programme.

You won’t let bureaucracy get in the way of what needs to be done, you’ll learn lessons and share these lessons across the team. You won’t necessarily have a military background, but you’ll understand what it means to serve and to put the mission first.

The OMNIA Senior Training Systems Engineer will be part of the team responsible for the delivery of complex bespoke training systems capabilities, technology and solutions for the Army Collective Training Service (ACTS). Responsible to the Systems Solutions Lead, this position will be critical to the successful technology and interoperability of the entire solution.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Working in multi-disciplinary teams within a system engineering environment.
  • Knowledge of Systems Engineering Process (ISO 15288).
  • Experience of writing system requirements and producing design documentation.
  • Knowledge in the System Engineering V-model lifecycles and processes.
  • Writing technical specifications and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
  • Systems Engineering technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques.
  • Experience with the Atlassian Suite, working with Jira, Confluence.
  • Engineering background with a degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience.
  • Ability to translate operational and technical requirements into practical system architectures, designs and implementation plans.
  • Experience supporting technical deployments within structured delivery environments (e.g. Agile or SAFe).
  • Experience supporting system testing, validation, and troubleshooting during deployment and operational phases.
  • Experience of Cloud Service and hosting with AWS or Azure.
  • Holds, or is eligible to obtain, UK Security Clearance (SC).

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Experience of writing training system requirements and designs across the Live Virtual and Constructive environments.
  • Awareness of TOGAF and/or NAFv4.
  • Experience delivering multi-system integration projects within defence, government, or highly regulated environments.
  • Working knowledge of Training Systems standards and frameworks (DIS/HLA/SISO).
  • Experience implementing and configuring training solution technologies across Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) environments.
  • Experience working with external suppliers and vendors to deliver integrated technical solutions, including reviewing technical documentation to ensure alignment with system/architecture requirements and standards.
  • Experience supporting procurement or supply chain teams by translating technical specifications and integration requirements.
  • Understanding of interoperability standards or integration frameworks used within enterprise or defence systems.
  • Experience or knowledge of Combined Arms Virtual Simulations (CAVS) or Tactical Engagement Systems (TES).
