About the role
The Training Equipment Mechanical & Electrical Maintainer is responsible to the Regional Training Equipment Manager (Southwest) for level 2/3 maintenance and repair of various trainers, simulators, and training delivery support equipment in the Southwest of England with occasional travel to other areas as required.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on a wide range of Royal Navy training equipment, including motors, pumps, and hydraulic systems.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical defects by interpreting diagrams, using diagnostic tools, and testing equipment.
- Implement planned maintenance schedules to prevent equipment failure.
- Update the Maintenance tool (currently TABS Ethos) following any maintenance activity.
- Ensure all work follows appropriate safety regulations including DefStanās and RN BRās.
- Ensure that escorted visitors and contractors use appropriate PPE.
- Champion and foster a culture of āSafety Firstā and EHS compliance.
- Maintain a proāactive and continuous improvement attitude.
- Act as the Project Engineer for the RAST training unit.
- Carry out any reasonable tasks as directed by the Training Equipment Manager.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
- Understanding of Royal Navy and RFA electrical and mechanical equipment and processes.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical diagrams.
- BS 7671 18th Edition.
Desirable
- IT competence.
- Capable of achieving Security Clearance (SC).
- Full UK Driving Licence.
