About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Commercial Manager who will be responsible for the management and delivery of all commercial aspects of programmes within the Mission Area, working within a close knit multi-functional team. This is a high-profile role and requires managing diverse internal and external stakeholders. This role works throughout the entire programme lifecycle and an ability to perform through others is a key requirement. The role requires leadership to, and day to day management of, the Contracts team, delivering an effective and motivated team including finalising contract closures, recruitment, performance management and talent development.
Skills And Experience
- Significant experience in a commercial or contracts role, delivering services and products within a highly regulated industry.
- Related commercial / legal degree or equivalent qualification.
- Working in collaborative environments dealing with complex issues.
- Managing and delivering medium (Β£25m) and high (Β£200m+) value contracts.
- Dealing with Customers from different global locations and cultures including the UK Ministry of Defence.
- Understanding and ability to work within the requirements of the Defence Reform Act
- Knowledge of US FAR/DFAR compliance and applicability together with a good working knowledge of ITAR and EAR export challenges.
- Delivering multiple different types of agreement.
- Able to work within various locations as required, leading geographically dispersed, diverse teams with flexible working arrangements.
- Dispute resolution experience gained within long term agile contracts.
- Good experience of managing and capturing change through contractual mechanisms.
- Staff management and development with strong coaching and mentoring skills.
- Able to deputise for the Associate Contracts Director on an Ad-Hoc basis
- A well organised and self-motivated individual
- Relevant years of managing a team of professionals at varying skill levels.

- Experience of working in different country cultures with an ability to establish and nurture customer relationships
- Energy and Drive β willing to travel extensively within the UK and internationally
- A thorough understanding of the customer (UK MoD and other agencies, Foreign Governments and Military) and a background in Defence or Intelligence.
Responsibilities
- Leading the wider commercial elements of small, medium, and large contracts together with the creation and management of teaming strategies.
- Responsible for the creation and delivery of the Mission Area Commercial strategy.
- Managing contractual issues and positions with clearly understood risk and opportunity boundaries, interfacing with internal and external legal counsel.
- Influencing internal and external stakeholders with both cross functional communication and senior management briefing into the relevant US business areas at executive levels.
- Able to create, reviewing, negotiate complex contractual documents that align with the business governance.
- Problem solving and dispute resolution.
- Customer relationship management including working in an ISO 44001 environment.
- Ensuring that corporate governance is understood and followed including managing internal gating processes.
- Active work force planning to meet bid and contract negotiation requirements.
- Responsible for all Contracts new business activities within the Mission Area.
