About the role

Our Commodity Managers conduct Make v Buy exercises, develop sourcing strategies and business cases, select sources, negotiate and manage supplier agreements of various types (Commodity/Service/ Consultant/ International) for medium complexity supplier requirements. You will liaise with suppliers at various management levels to drive improvement and resolve disputes, and contribute to Business Area and Stakeholder Functional strategies via specific commodity strategies. You will manage and monitor supply chain and support growth, efficiency, profitability and intercompany relationships.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Related degree or MCIPS and experience in Supply Chain, Subcontract Management, Procurement, Commodity and/or related field
  • Experience in managing stakeholder groups and leading or contributing effectively in a multi-functional team
  • Knowledge of import/export legislation and logistical requirements
  • Administration of delivery/acceptance/invoicing of goods and services
  • Experience negotiating low/medium complexity non-standard agreements including Service Level requirements
  • Experience delivering continuous improvement; problem solving and dispute resolution at mid-management level
  • Experience or knowledge of MRP, SAP and purchase order placement/material receipt processes

  • Programme management skills
  • Ability/Experience to manage a medium sized team with focus on policy and strategy implementation, plus operational plans with measurable contribution towards sub-function results
  • Experience in developing operational plans that generate processes and standards in support of the functional strategy and goals
  • Experience as Control Account Manager
  • Experience of Teammate selection and Teaming Agreements
  • Experience developing and managing Subcontractor Relationship Management and collaborative working
  • Process improvement skillset
  • Experience working with international suppliers/programmes

Responsibilities (Leading & Supporting)

  • Liaise with peers from other functions and RTX businesses and the Functional LT
  • Lead or support cross-functional teams in conducting Make v Buy exercises and developing/deploying commodity strategies of medium complexity
  • Strategies include: direct and indirect spend commodities; Target Return on Investment (ROI); commodity risk management; service levels; approved/preferred suppliers
  • Engage with Stakeholder Functional leads regarding supplier bid and selection criteria
  • Participate in / lead supplier assessments and supplier development activity teams, including due diligence
  • Leverage commodity opportunities and synergies across RTX
  • Ensure alignment of strategies with market conditions, Raytheon requirements, goals and growth plans
  • Leverage supplier and industry capabilities with Stakeholder functions to align strategies and identify gaps
  • Develop Commodity Agreements
  • Develop and manage tenders; perform/c conduct cost and price analysis; develop negotiation strategies; lead negotiations for value for money
  • Produce business cases/briefing materials for management reviews
  • Work with suppliers and stakeholders to achieve collaborative partnering and service level KPIs
  • Establish and manage supplier relationships including supplier continuous improvement goals
  • Execute to customer requirements including government regulations, public law and Raytheon policies
  • Promote contributions of the function to corporate objectives with stakeholders and the supply chain
  • Promote sustainable and responsible procurement including social, cultural and diversity values
  • Utilise project management skills when managing suppliers
  • Assess challenges faced by the organisation and supply chains and act to mitigate risks and develop opportunities
  • Oversee non-Production requirements placement with suppliers in line with policy and commodity strategies to ensure timely execution
