The Facilities Technician will support the Assistant Facilities Manager in the day-to-day operational management of services across a portfolio of buildings. This is a hands-on and highly visible role requiring strong customer relationship skills. Working collaboratively as part of the Facilities team, the Technician will contribute to departmental performance and foster effective relationships with both clients and internal stakeholders.
Main Accountabilities
- Responsible for completing both routine and non-routine tasks within the scope of the role.
- Deliver activities that support operational objectives.
- Make decisions within defined parameters, applying specialist knowledge and experience.
- Engage with clients and building users regarding specific work tasks and deliverables.
- Support the implementation of Health & Safety policies and standards.
Main Duties
- Ensure site compliance with UK legislation, Raytheon standards, and internal procedures.
- Maintain working knowledge of asset protection requirements and legislation to meet safety, insurance, and corporate expectations.
- Assist the AFM in managing and delivering Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance, using CBRE SI CMMS across Harlow, Matching Green, and Pall Mall sites.
- Carry out minor electrical installation works as required.
- Undertake minor building repairs, door maintenance and basic plumbing tasks (e.g., tap repairs, unblocking sinks, pipework adjustments).
- Collaborate closely with the Harlow Facilities team, site EHS, and other functional teams.
- Respond effectively to day-to-day operational and customer needs.
- Oversee contractor activities to ensure safe and compliant working practices.
Knowledge and Applied Skills
- Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation/Maintenance and/or City & Guilds qualification.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671).
- NICEIC or equivalent certification (preferred).
- Proven experience in a similar facilities or engineering role.
- Have a sound working knowledge of all UK facilities biased statute.
Desirable Skills
- Familiarity with asset protection systems, including fire alarms and sprinkler systems.
- Working knowledge of building management systems (BMS).
- Understanding of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Willingness to work flexibly, including occasional weekends or out-of-hours support.
