As part of our commitment to developing the next generation of aerospace manufacturing, we are looking for a Degree Apprentice to join our Power and Control business in our cutting-edge operations team at our HS Marston facility in the West Midlands.

What you will do:

  • During this 4-year Degree Apprenticeship you will work directly with production teams and modern automation technologies to transform our shop floor into a fully connected, data-driven environment.
  • You will collaborate with cross-functional teams across the site and enterprise to deliver intelligent systems, increase visibility, and enable data-driven decision-making across our operations.
  • Act as the digital technology specialist within project teams, supporting manufacturing engineers and technicians through the integration, adoption, and optimisation of digital tools, data systems, and smart manufacturing technologies.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and environmental regulations, and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to advanced manufacturing/Ops Technology processes, equipment, and tooling with a digital focus.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to implement process improvements and support new product introductions.
  • Support data-driven optimisation, automation opportunities, and digital workflow enhancements.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of work instructions, standard operating procedures, and best practices.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) using digital dashboards and analytics tools, providing insights into production efficiency, machine utilisation, quality trends, and safety performance.
  • Participate in cross-functional digital transformation initiatives, contributing to smart factory projects, automation pilots, data architecture improvements, and cost-reduction strategies enabled by technology.
  • Maintain accurate digital records and documentation related to advanced manufacturing processes, equipment maintenance, and quality control.

What you will learn:

During this comprehensive Level 6 Apprenticeship you will develop the key DT skills needed to transform our shop floor into a fully connected, data-driven environment. It is ideally suited to you if you are motivated, diligent and excited by a career in DT in a Manufacturing Engineering environment within the Aerospace sector. Alongside gaining hands-on experience and a broad understanding of our business operations, you will work towards a BSc Digital and Technology Solutions delivered in partnership with Aston University.

Qualifications we prefer:

  • We expect that you will be just starting your career in DT/AME/Ops Technology, so we will delight in training and supporting you through your career journey to successfully complete your apprenticeship.
  • An experienced problem-solver with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues, you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • You will have experience of reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics and work instructions and knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and tooling.
  • Knowledge in FDM Additive Manufacturing, Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies would be advantageous.
  • You will have obtained 3 A Levels at grade C or above including a Mathematics based subject and a STEM subject, and a minimum of five GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above including Mathematics, English and a STEM subject.
