About Us
We are currently seeking a Firmware Engineering with extensive Motor Controller and Motor Test experience to join our team within Collins Aerospace Electronic Controls and Motor Systems, Solihull.

Recently, the site at Solihull has developed the world\’s first 1MW Motor and Control system for use in hybrid-electric aircraft propulsion.
What You Will Do:
- You will bring extensive Firmware / FPGA Experience, writing application software for DSP/FPGA for control of electric motors like induction motors, permanent magnet motors, etc.
- You will work within our exciting and ambitious Firmware team – Applying best engineering standards and developing robust design practices.
- You will have a good fundamental understanding of FPGA design, applying best engineering standards and developing robust design practices.
- You will own design, implement and test the control application software for converter systems and electrical drives.
- You will work in a collaborative team, working on complex specialist support to the design and development of high-performance world-class motor drive systems.

Qualifications You Must Have:
- Degree or equivalent in electronics engineering
- Experience with FPGA tools & technologies (e.g., Microchip, Xilinx, SoC, Modelsim, Matlab, Simulink)
- Demonstrable practical experience of FPGA design and verification (VHDL) including requirements capture, simulation, code coverage, synthesis, place & route, and timing analysis & closure.
- Ability to collaborate closely with other engineering disciplines.
- Proven track record in delivering complex work packages.
- Demonstrate technical experience regarding design and verification.
- Deliver (taking a hands-on approach) in design, development, prototyping, verification, and delivery of DO254 compliant FPGAs
- Pride in working with a high-performance engineering team,
- Embrace an innovative approach to problem solving, design implementation, process development and quality
Qualifications We Prefer:
- An understanding of Agile methodologies (particularly SCRUM & Kanban).
- An understanding of Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) and SysML.
- An understanding of communication protocols, DSP or VLSI maths functions.
- Experience of System on Chip (SoC) design targeting FPGA or ASIC.
- Experience of applying control laws within FPGA applications.
- Knowledge of motor control systems, sensing components (e.g., LVDT, Resolvers).
- Experience with military or aerospace designs compliant to RTCA/DO-254.
