Role & Responsibilities:
MCTS is a sophisticated and versatile training platform used by the Royal Navy providing state of the art classroom and simulation training facilities delivering maritime warfare training in controlled environments. MCTS Maintainers play a pivotal part in ensuring training equipment is prepared and ready for use; defects are promptly addressed; spares are controlled; and Customer KPI requirements are met on a daily basis.
Responsibilities:
- Systems Familiarity: Develop sustainable working competency to promptly solve a variety of operating issues/defects on Customer Furnished and Government Furnished equipment (CFE and GFE).
- Training Equipment (TE) Preparation: Prepare assigned training spaces/equipment for training to meet “Ready for Training” requirements as specified in the Agreed Training Schedule (ATS).
- Maintain TE Hardware: Assure availability and serviceability of in use TE in assigned spaces.
- Preventative/Corrective Maintenance: Undertake general, routine, preventative and corrective maintenance activities for MCTS systems and support equipment.
- Administer Systems: Undertake a variety of system administration and maintenance tasks across the range of MCTS Training Equipment.
- Effective Response: Provide rapid, prioritised response to defects arising on in-use TE to minimise training downtime.
- Spares/Fault Management: Use bespoke Hardware Management System to log and report defects/shortfalls.
- Ensure compliance with Company health, safety and environmental procedures.
- Any other duties required to complete the Training Equipment Service.
Required experience:
- Previous Experience of configuring, installing, maintaining a range of software; System Start-up and Shutdowns.
- Working knowledge of Operating Systems: User Administration of SUSE Linux; UNIX Administration (Solaris and HP-UX); Windows Administration (W2003 and W2012).
- Ability to interface with outfitted systems to undertake expected system administration and management functions.
- Able to analyse defects/technical issues and succinctly report/input the necessary detail into logging and analysis tools.
- Undertake spares/logistics tasks associated with spares management.
- Developed knowledge and experience of managing and maintaining an array of technical, training equipment portfolios.
- Demonstrate a clear ability to maintain effective dialogue with all internal and external stakeholders.
Desirable experience:
- Awareness of RN warfare equipment and methodologies.
- Maintain and assure the provision of Video-teleconference (VTC) links between remotely linked sites.
- PAT Testing Competency.
