We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Accountant to join our finance team. The Assistant Accountant supports month-end reporting, taking ownership of key financial areas across the income statement and balance sheet. This role exists to support operational finance activities, maintaining strong financial controls, and driving continuous improvements across finance systems and procedures. Please note that this role requires a minimum of 3 days per week onsite at our Global HQ in Worthing.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Own the preparation of assigned month-end close activities, adhering to strict reportable timetables.
- Prepare and post journal entries and prepare balance sheet reconciliations.
- Respond to accounting queries within the organisation.
- Prepare financial reports by collecting, analysing and summarising accounting information.
- Support the preparation and analysis of financial variances to budget and prior year results using NetSuite.
- Act as finance point of contact for AP/AR queries and escalations.
- Provide support to Senior Finance team members on ad hoc reporting and projects.
- Frequent communication with both internal and external stakeholders, including external auditors to resolve queries and obtain information.
- Ensuring compliance with controls and identify any irregularities.
- Identify opportunities to improve and streamline finance processes and controls.
What Experience & Skills You Will Need
- Fully AAT qualified or actively studying towards ACCA or CIMA.
- 2+ years’ experience in a finance or accounting role.
- Basic understanding of financial statements and key accounting principles.
- Good numerical and analytical skills to solve problems and resolve challenges.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of NetSuite or similar ERP system.
- Familiarity with digital finance tools and automation.
