This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, newly or recently qualified solicitor who wants to grow with a business that has genuine momentum. Rayner is pursuing an ambitious five-year growth plan - expanding its international footprint, developing new products and enhancing its focus on key markets. This role, as part of the Rayner Group Legal Team, will play an important part in that journey. Working closely with the General Counsel and the wider legal team, the postholder will take ownership of the Group’s compliance agenda, lead ESG and sustainability workstreams and manage the insurance portfolio, while broadening their legal skills by supporting the business on commercial, corporate and other matters as the need arises.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement effective and efficient compliance programs and policies, especially on ESG and sustainability initiatives.
- Establish and maintain compliance monitoring processes to detect and prevent violations.
- Analyse and evaluate existing and emerging risks, providing recommendations for risk mitigation strategies to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Prepare regular compliance reports and metrics for senior management and regulatory authorities.
- Stay current with relevant laws, regulations, and industry guidelines affecting the life sciences industry.
- Oversight of transparency reporting in the healthcare sector including Sunshine Act reporting requirements.
- Conduct internal investigations in response to compliance concerns or allegations.
- Develop and implement remediation plans to address identified issues.
- Evaluate the compliance of third-party vendors and partners and ensure adherence to contractual obligations.
- Prepare and maintain documentation related to compliance and risk-management activities.
- Monitoring and oversight of training programs to educate employees on compliance and risk-management.
- Support the management of the Rayner Group insurance portfolio, including the annual renewal programme, liaison with brokers and management of claims processes.
- Draft, review, negotiate and advise on commercial agreements (including distribution, supply, collaboration and IP licensing agreements) as required to support the wider business.
- Assist with legal workstreams arising from corporate development and M&A activity as required.
What Experience & Skills You Will Need:
Essential
- Qualified solicitor entitled to practise in England and Wales, with 0–4 years’ post-qualification experience (PQE).
- Excellent academic track record.
- Excellent legal drafting, reviewing and negotiating skills.
- Strong computer skills required in applications used in general office settings.
- Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail; ability to spot issues and exercise commercial acumen.
- Ability to prioritise and work effectively in a fast-moving, deadline-driven environment.
- Proactive self-starter who takes initiative and drives matters forward, with the good judgment to know when to involve or elevate to the General Counsel.
- Excellent grammatical, verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships across the business.
- Discretion, tact and diplomacy.
Desirable
- In-depth knowledge of ABHI, PhRMA, AdvaMed, FDA, ISO standards and other relevant regulatory frameworks.
- Management of Environmental, Social and Governance programs/initiatives.
- Experience of working in-house, or of working in or with the healthcare, life sciences or med-tech sector.
- Experience of working in a PE-backed or fast-growing international business.
