An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Materials Laboratory Technician to join our QA team based in Crawley. This is a varied and hands-on role managing the daily operation of the Rayner Materials laboratory. The position includes the manufacturing of batches of liquid raw material for the flow of manufacture within the business; Reperin and OUA. This will involve weighing and technical handling of organic chemical compounds, and chemical analysis. Some data analysis of Quality Management System and Manufacturing Data will also be required, to aid Continuous Improvement activities and Non-conformity reduction. The position shall also support Rayner’s business objectives, corporate policies and world class manufacturing.
What you’ll be doing:
- Managing and taking ownership of laboratory processes
- Accurately weighing chemicals
- Mixing large quantities of chemicals together (liquids and solids)
- Cleaning equipment after production of batches
- Adhering to and ensuring adherence to chemical and lab safety requirements
- Maintaining accurate records
- Running lab equipment, including reporting equipment faults
- Storage of raw materials and finished stock
- Chemical analysis (training will be provided) e.g. HPLC, FTIR
- QA Data Analysis & Quality Impact Reporting
- CAPA Data Analysis & Reporting
- Process Performance Analysis
- Hydrophobic Manufacturing & Line 3 Support
- Continuous Improvement & Project Support
- Design and maintain PowerBI dashboards for real-time and trending data
Please note: this role requires heavy lifting of large volumes of chemicals.
Skills & Experience Required:
Essential:
- Degree, equivalent qualification, or equivalent experience in a science, clinical, or engineering discipline.
- Strong computer literacy with good knowledge of MS Office.
- Hands-on technical laboratory experience (e.g. weighing and measuring chemicals).
- Data analysis experience.
- Confident and competent in Excel.
Desirable:
- Experience with chemical synthesis
- Experience with chemical analysis
- Knowledge of PowerBI
