The Citrix Consultant is responsible for maintaining the stability, performance, and security of the organisation’s virtual desktop and application delivery platforms. This role manages and optimises Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, Windows 365, Intune, and associated virtualisation technologies to ensure a seamless and reliable end‑user experience. Acting as a senior escalation point for complex infrastructure issues, the Platform Analyst safeguards platform health, manages gold images, enforces access and compliance standards, and works closely with infrastructure, security, and application teams to support a resilient, scalable, and high‑performing virtual environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer, implement, maintain, and optimise all virtualisation platforms including Windows 365, Intune, and Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD), ensuring high availability, scalability, and alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
  • Serve as a second‑line escalation point for complex Citrix and virtual desktop infrastructure incidents.
  • Monitor and maintain virtual environments including Delivery Controllers, StoreFront, VDAs, NetScaler/ADC, Citrix Cloud services, and Island IPA components.
  • Diagnose and resolve performance issues such as logon delays, session instability, and capacity constraints.
  • Maintain platform health through patching, licensing, certificate management, and adherence to configuration standards.
  • Manage and optimise gold/master images including OS patching, application updates, and performance tuning.
  • Review and approve access requests in line with least‑privilege and compliance requirements.
  • Plan, test, and deploy Citrix upgrades and platform enhancements in controlled non‑production environments.
  • Support audit, compliance, and attestation activities by providing documentation, evidence, and technical insight.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field; and 5+ years of experience in virtualisation or end‑user computing at an enterprise level; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience totalling 5+ years.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Advanced expertise in Citrix NetScaler and Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD).
  • Proficiency in PowerShell for automation and administration.
  • Strong understanding of virtualisation, networking, and storage technologies.
  • Ability to analyse metrics, logs, and telemetry to proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Experience with performance tuning, capacity planning, and high‑availability design.
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and cross‑team collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within infrastructure, security, and application teams.
  • Experience producing reports and presenting platform metrics.
