The Associate Investment Manager will support the delivery of investment management services to clients, ensuring all activity meets the highest professional standards and complies with FCA regulations. The role focuses on developing strong client relationships, supporting senior team members, and contributing to the Company's strategic growth objectives.
Manage, monitor, and administer client portfolios in line with agreed objectives, the Company's investment philosophy, and prevailing market views. Support the ongoing suitability assessment of client portfolios, ensuring alignment with Consumer Duty, client outcomes, and TCF requirements. Execute timely and accurate portfolio actions, including deployment of new funds, capital raises, CGT reviews, and restructuring of new or transferred-in portfolios. Assist with rebalancing, bulk switches, individual client reviews, and model maintenance within Figaro. Place execution-only orders promptly and accurately.
Client Relationship Support
- Act as an additional point of contact for designated clients, attending meetings, taking minutes, and ensuring timely follow-up actions.
- Ensure all client communications are actioned, recorded, and filed efficiently.
- Produce and dispatch client portfolio valuations within required regulatory timeframes.
- Maintain a strong understanding of broader wealth management services (e.g., financial planning, banking) to identify cross-selling opportunities.
Business Development
- Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities through networking, intermediaries, and referrals.
- Support the wider team in business development activities, including preparing investment proposals, attending pitch meetings, and completing follow-up tasks.
Market Awareness & Professional Standards
- Maintain an up-to-date understanding of market conditions, investment trends, and professional developments.
- Ensure all actions are undertaken in clients' best interests and in full compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Promote a strong compliance culture across the division.
Team Support & Operational Excellence
- Delegate and oversee appropriate tasks to support staff, including administration of client transactions, back-office liaison, and handling client queries.
- Support and monitor changes to Company procedures, including charging structures and operational processes.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Progression toward CISI Level 6 (expected).
- Valid and maintained SPS.
- Ideally, experience in a client-facing role within investment management or a related financial services environment.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver excellent service to clients and stakeholders.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong understanding of investment processes, strategies, and asset classes, with the ability to articulate these clearly to clients.
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks, including FCA Consumer Duty and financial crime prevention requirements.
- Working understanding of financial planning services.
- Highly organised, resilient, and calm under pressure, with a methodical approach to work.
- Strong interpersonal, networking, and negotiation skills, with confidence to challenge and contribute effectively.
- Self-motivated, commercially aware, and able to work independently.
- Excellent attention to detail, particularly in written communication.
