Job Description Sous Chef - £40,000 + Tips + Bonus Location: Village Gastro Pub, near Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire Salary: £40,000 + Tips + Bonus A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced and ambitious Sous Chef to join the kitchen team at a popular and highly regarded gastro pub in a beautiful village on the outskirts of Bishop’s Stortford. We’re looking for a talented chef who enjoys working with fresh, seasonal produce and is confident leading a busy kitchen alongside the Head Chef. The Role As Sous Chef, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, helping to deliver consistently high-quality food across busy lunch and evening services. You will be responsible for: Supporting the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen Leading and motivating the kitchen team during service Maintaining consistently high standards of food quality, presentation and hygiene Assisting with menu development and seasonal specials Managing prep and service to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations Supporting ordering, stock control and kitchen costings where required Training and developing junior members of the team The Ideal Candidate We’re looking for an experienced Sous Chef, Junior Sous Chef or strong Chef de Partie ready for their next step. You’ll be passionate about good food, commercially aware and comfortable working in a busy gastro pub environment. You’ll also be a confident team player who can lead from the front and maintain standards during busy services. A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential due to the village location.
