The world is moving away from rigid ownership models in favour of more flexible, affordable access. Yet the $1.5 trillion device market has barely moved. Our mission is to transform how technology is bought, used and reused — creating better outcomes for customers, brands and the planet.
Raylo is the subscription infrastructure that enables leading electronics brands, including PlayStation, HP and Dyson, to move from one-off device sales to recurring subscription programmes that increase conversion, deepen loyalty and capture more lifetime value. We have over $90m ARR, we’re profitable, growing fast, with over a quarter of a million subscriptions across consumers and small businesses. Customers trust us too, with a 4.5/5 Trustpilot rating from more than 20,000 reviews.
For customers, the experience is simple: subscribe to a device, get support throughout, upgrade when you want, and return it when you’re done. Behind that sits an AI-powered operating system that executes and manages device subscriptions end to end: credit and fraud decisioning, lifecycle operations, and the financing engine that enables brands to run subscription programmes at scale.
Brands can unlock a powerful new growth engine with Raylo across embedded checkout, Raylo.com and the customer app — converting more DTC customers, reaching subscription-first demand, and driving repeat upgrades that compound customer lifetime value. The impact of our circular model is big. We cut emissions per device by around 50% compared to buy-and-discard. We’re B Corp certified, backed by Macquarie, NatWest and Channel 4 Ventures, and recognised by Tech Nation’s Future Fifty.
As a senior leader within Raylo's Risk Operations team, you will report to the Head of Collections & Risk Ops. You will lead the growth of our fraud, credit, and insurance operations as we scale for international expansion. In this hands‑on position, you will directly lead a team of Risk Operations Team Leads, who in turn manage our Risk Operations Associates. Your role will involve close internal collaboration with Risk Strategy and broader Operations leadership, alongside managing external relationships with Credit Rating Agency (CRA) contacts and fraud data partners.
You will guide the function through a pivotal period of transformation. You will play a central role in shaping the future of Risk Operations at Raylo. This includes driving our organisational redesign, transitioning to a 24/7 rota, evolving our fraud detection, and laying the groundwork for our scaling into new markets.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee risk operations - Lead the team in managing fraud investigations, insurance claims, and onboarding referrals, ensuring compliant and high‑quality decision‑making.
- Grow and mentor the function - Directly manage Team Leads to build capability, succession, and high performance across the wider Risk Operations team.
- Deliver insight to leadership - Provide weekly reporting on fraud, insurance, and referrals to keep senior stakeholders informed.
- Lead cross‑functional initiatives - Partner closely with Risk Strategy and Operations leadership on shared priorities and process improvements.
- Evolve detection strategy - Refine prevention techniques by leveraging automation and AI‑driven insights.
- Shape the Risk Ops org redesign - Play an active role in the team's move to a 24/7 rota and wider structural changes.
- Support Raylo's US market launch - Contribute research, playbooks and ways‑of‑working documentation as we prepare to enter the US market.
- Stay hands‑on - Get stuck into core casework yourself, not just delegate, especially in your first few months.
- Build external relationships - Partner with CRA contacts and fraud data partners to strengthen our risk decisioning.
You’ll Succeed with
- 5‑7+ years' relevant experience - proven track record in fraud prevention or risk management within FCA‑regulated consumer finance/fintech, including direct people leadership experience.
- Proven, direct people management experience - you actively want to lead and grow a team, not just execute individually.
- Confidence owning multiple functions at once - fraud, insurance and referrals - and building process rather than just following it.
- A strong analytical mindset – comfortable self‑serving data; experience with tools such as SQL, Python, BigQuery, or similar data/BI platforms is a plus but not essential.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling you to produce clear reporting for senior leadership and run cross‑functional meetings.
- Genuine Values fit - something we look for from the very first conversation.
- Problem‑solving and adaptability - you'll thrive in a fast‑moving, dynamic environment where new fraud threats emerge regularly.
