Rayden Engineering Ltd is a Mechanical & Civil Engineering Company, based in the East Midlands of England, specialising in the pre-fabrication, welding and installation of pipework systems of a wide variety of alloys. We are also involved in the installation of Cross-country Pipelines and Pipeline Diversions (up to 42β) and Above Ground Installations (AGIs). We are currently executing major contracts nationwide for major oil & gas companies that include AGIs, pipelines and major civil works. Our continued success and growth over the past number of years now necessitates the appointment of a Workshop Manager.
Based at our Head Office facility, the Workshop Manager will be responsible for managing all operations within the fabrication side of the business, both structural steel and pipework. You will also assist in the pre-construction and estimating phases of projects. You will work closely with the management team to maintain and develop business relationships with clients, designers and sub-contractors.
Responsibilities:
- Managing a busy fabrication facility.
- Ensuring that each project meets its targets in terms of quality and customer satisfaction.
- Demonstrating management experience in both Steel and Pipe Fabrication.
- Organising and taking a leading role with the fabrication projects; planning, allocating and supervising the workforce to execute works in accordance with the project programmes.
- Managing and monitoring the works to ensure compliance with our clients' specifications.
- Liaising with both our own and our clients' operation staff to ensure the works are undertaken to everyone's satisfaction.
- Maintaining records/diaries and actively supporting the resolution of all fabrication issues.
- Implementing our positive health, safety & environmental regime at all times, delivering HS&E toolbox talks in collaboration with our HS&E Manager.
- Building positive and productive working relationships with our clients; delivering excellent customer service and seeking ways to continuously improve and exceed expectations.
- Checking quality, health and safety standards and correcting where required.
- Motivating team members to achieve predetermined goals and targets.
- Ensuring a high standard of housekeeping is maintained at our works facility.
- Being computer literate and a strong communicator both written and verbally.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of a HNC/HND in mechanical engineering or equivalent and at least five years' experience of working in an engineering role.
- Experience of working to Quality Management Systems ISO 9001.
- Knowledge & experience of working to ISO 3834 and BS EN 1090 management systems.
- Leadership, management, and ability to organise effectively with good time management skills.
- A working knowledge of project management tools such as planning using Microsoft Project would be an advantage.
- A successful track record of delivering projects on time and to budget, whilst meeting the customer's technical expectations.
- Ability to read and review piping, structural and civil drawings.
- Experience in project engineering and the management of design.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Ability to work effectively in a deadline-oriented and fast-paced team environment, and also to provide strong leadership.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proven track record in completing risk assessments and writing method statements.
- Ability to carry out site surveys, obtain accurate measurements and produce drawings.
- Problem solving and good commercial awareness.
- Production of detailed daily fabrication diaries.
- The willingness and ability to 'roll up their sleeves', work well amongst others, and knowledgeably deliver contractually and commercially.
