The Medical Receptionist/Care Navigator is the first point of contact for patients, carers, professional colleagues and visitors. As the 'face' and 'voice' of the surgery, the role projects the care and empathy of services offered. Working across a range of tasks, this role offers a challenging and rewarding experience.

This is a 12‑month temporary contract covering maternity leave at an independent GP practice with around 6,000 patients across two sites. The role runs Monday to Friday, 7:45am–6:00pm, with flexible hours available for the right candidate.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide front‑line support to patients and staff, acting as first point of contact for all enquiries.
  • Handle patient calls, appointments and triage using EMIS Web software.
  • Record and manage patient information, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Assist with medical coding (SNOMED) where required.
  • Support clinical and administrative staff with clerical tasks.
  • Maintain reception area, ensuring a welcoming environment.
Shift Details

Primary shift: Monday to Friday. Typical hours: 7:45 am to 6:00 pm. Flexibility may be offered to the selected candidate.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Preferred: previous experience in a medical reception or care navigator role.
  • Desirable: Familiarity with EMIS Web.
  • Knowledge of SNOMED coding.
