Opportunity to join a small, loyal team working across two GP sites in the lovely towns of South Shields & Jarrow. This new role combines mostly high-end administrative duties in conjunction with basic clinical skills (which can be taught in-house) and prospective certified learning as a GPA. This is NOT a hands-on care/carers/HCA role - it is classed as "non-clinical". We are open to filling a full-time or part-time position, depending on the candidate. Applicants must have worked in primary care already and have built up skills and knowledge in the high-end administration that working in a GP practice involves.
Main duties of the job: This is a fairly new role to primary care with the aim of utilising a number of high-end skills and experience to further aid the patient path through our service and support the management team in the volume of behind-the-scenes administrative and auditing work. There is a requirement for some basic clinical skills to meet the wider remit of this role (which can be taught in-house when needed), along with a set training and assessment process in recognised GPA training certification.
About us: 3 x Partners, 2 long-term locum GPs, ACP, NP, PN, 2 x HCA, Practice Manager, APM, Administrator and 8 non-clinical care navigators. We have just shy of 6000 patients. We aim to give the best care and service possible to our patients. Staff opinion and suggestions are part of our regular interactions and meetings, and we try to take on board work/life balance to make everyone's working day as pleasant as possible. We are a training practice, currently giving educational encouragement to an ST1, as well as involvement with student placements in medicine and pharmaceutical.
Job responsibilities: This is an additional vacancy for this fairly new role under ARR provision but with the surgery offering a permanent contract. The mixed skill set includes the opportunity to gain an educational certificate in GPA work. Please note that interviews will be undertaken by 2 partners, salaried GP and PM, in person, at either Ravensworth Surgery or the branch site at The Medical Centre, Jarrow and will incorporate pre-set scenario questions.
Person Specification Experience: Please see the person spec at the bottom of the job spec attached.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check: This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
£12.21 to £13.50 an hour. Start NMW - little/no experience, to £13.50 - experience in areas.
