Ravenswood School is seeking to appoint a reliable, confident, and enthusiastic Cover Teacher to join our dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and helping to maintain a positive learning environment across the school. The successful candidate will supervise classes during short-term staff absence, ensuring students stay on task and continue learning. The role also involves supporting behaviour management, attendance, and pupil supervision across the school. Ravenswood School is an all age Special School for children with complex needs and SLD; many of our pupils have autism, ADHD or attachment disorder. In June 2023, Ofsted confirmed that Ravenswood continues to be a good school, one that is inclusive and has high aspirations for all its pupils.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver whole class/ small group lessons set by their class/ subject teacher
- Prepare resources and adapt planning and schemes of work to meet the needs of the pupils
- Contribute to monitoring and assessment
- Planning and delivering small group/ individual pupil’s interventions
- Support with examinations, educational visits and supporting pupils during break periods
The ideal candidate will:
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be confident managing groups of young people in a classroom environment.
- Demonstrate strong behaviour management skills.
- Be organised, adaptable, and able to work independently.
- Remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Have a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Previous experience working with children or young people within a special school environment is desirable, though not essential for candidates with suitable transferable skills.
