Our client is one of the North West’s most established M&E contractors and they are looking for an experienced Electrical Estimator to join their pre-construction team. This is a hybrid role with four days working from home, making it well suited to someone who works well independently and manages their own workload with confidence.

The business has a structured and consistent forward order book, and the estimating function is a well-supported one. For an experienced estimator, this is a role with real substance – a varied project pipeline, a strong supply chain network and a team around you that knows how to deliver.

With over 50 years in the industry and a team of more than 200 staff, our client is one of the longest-established building services engineering businesses in the North West. They deliver comprehensive electrical and mechanical packages – including full design and build capability – for major projects across the region and nationally, and hold places on major public sector procurement frameworks covering projects from £50,000 to over £3 million. Their work spans healthcare, commercial and industrial sectors, with a particularly strong track record in complex NHS hospital schemes. Beyond core M&E, their capability extends to building automation and controls, renewable energy and data and telecoms infrastructure. The business is accredited to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, and operates a full 24-hour maintenance service alongside project delivery.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Preparing detailed electrical estimates and tender submissions from drawings and specifications
  • Carrying out take-offs and developing accurate bills of quantities

  • Identifying risk, value engineering opportunities and commercial considerations within bids
  • Attending tender review and clarification meetings
  • Handing over secured projects to the delivery team with clear cost breakdowns
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of market rates and materials pricing

What We’re Looking For

  • Established background in electrical estimating within an M&E contracting environment
  • Confident reading and interpreting electrical drawings, specifications and tender documentation
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tender programmes simultaneously
  • Self-motivated and well organised – essential given the hybrid working pattern

What’s on Offer

  • Salary of £60,000 – £70,000 depending on experience
  • Hybrid working – 4 days from home
  • Company benefits package
  • Permanent, full-time role with a highly established contractor and a strong forward order book
