We are currently seeking an M&E Business Development Manager in Manchester, covering the North-West and Yorkshire regions, to help grow a high-performing engineering division delivering mechanical and electrical building services across the UK. This is a senior, client-facing role for someone who enjoys opening doors, building long-term relationships, and shaping opportunities from early conversation through to tender and award.

You'll be working with a contractor recognised for its mechanical, plumbing and electrical capability, supporting clients as both a principal contractor and supply chain partner.

About the Company

Our client is a major UK contractor with a strong in-house engineering capability, delivering building services solutions from design and procurement through to installation, commissioning and ongoing aftercare. The engineering team operates across a broad range of sectors and is actively supporting programmes focused on modernisation and decarbonisation.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Developing and maintaining a healthy pipeline of M&E engineering opportunities
  • Building relationships with key decision-makers, consultants, and framework stakeholders
  • Supporting bid strategy alongside pre-construction, estimating, and operational teams
  • Identifying where the business can add value early (scope, programme, delivery approach)
  • Leading client meetings, presenting capability, and managing the process through to tender
  • Tracking activity through CRM and providing clear pipeline updates and forecasts
  • Working closely with internal teams to ensure opportunities are pursued selectively and well

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience in business development within building services, M&E, engineering, or construction
  • Strong network and confidence engaging at senior client and consultant level
  • Solid understanding of how M&E tenders and pre-con processes work (from early engagement to award)
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to position solutions clearly and credibly
  • Organised approach to pipeline management, reporting, and follow-up
  • Full UK driving licence (travel will be required)
