Our client is a growing M&E contractor based in Liverpool and they are looking for a Mechanical Estimator to join their team in what is described as a pivotal appointment for the business. Our client is a Liverpool-based M&E contractor delivering mechanical and electrical design and installation services across the North West. Working through directly employed, multi-skilled teams and specialist suppliers, they operate across healthcare, education, commercial, residential, hotel and leisure, retail and custodial sectors.
The business has built a strong track record in decarbonisation and energy efficiency, recently securing in excess of £4 million in contracts including a major project with a prominent North West university. Their portfolio includes full design and build packages for NHS medical centres, large-scale auditoriums and university buildings – and their pipeline continues to grow. What You’ll Be Doing
- Preparing mechanical estimates and tender submissions from drawings and specifications
- Carrying out take-offs and producing accurate cost plans across a range of project types
- Engaging with the supply chain to obtain competitive subcontractor and supplier pricing
- Identifying commercial risks and value engineering opportunities within bids
- Attending tender clarification and review meetings
- Working closely with the design and delivery teams to ensure bids are technically sound
- Contributing to the development of the pre-construction function as the business grows

- Proven experience in mechanical estimating within an M&E contracting environment
- Confident reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, specifications and tender documentation
- Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Excel
- Commercially aware, with a methodical and accurate approach to pricing
