We are currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Warrington to join an established building engineering services contractor with a strong in-house design function and a long-standing presence in the North-West market. This is a great opportunity for a design engineer who enjoys seeing solutions through properly, from early-stage concept and coordination, through to construction support and handover. You will work alongside experienced colleagues in a practical environment where quality, buildability, and clear communication matter.

Our client is a privately owned building engineering services contractor with decades of experience delivering mechanical and electrical systems, combining strong operating standards with an agile, delivery-focused approach. They invest in their people and operate with an established in-house design team producing work to high industry standards.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Producing mechanical building services designs from concept through to detailed design
  • Designing systems such as HVAC, ventilation, public health and associated services
  • Completing calculations, equipment selection, schedules and specifications
  • Coordinating with electrical design and wider project teams to resolve clashes and queries early
  • Supporting pre-construction where required with technical input, clarifications and design development
  • Attending design meetings and contributing to coordinated, buildable solutions
  • Providing construction support, answering RFIs and assisting with commissioning readiness
  • Maintaining clear document control and working to agreed design QA standards

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience in mechanical building services design (consultant or contractor background welcome)
  • Good understanding of UK regulations and common industry standards
  • Confident producing coordinated designs and working through RIBA stages
  • Competent with AutoCAD (Revit or BIM coordination experience beneficial)
  • Strong communication skills and a practical, solutions-led mindset
  • Organised approach to managing deadlines and documentation
